Welcome to the 10th International Conference on Teacher Education (ICTED)!
The 10th International Conference on Teacher Education (ICTED), a biennial gathering of teacher educators, researchers, policy makers, administrators, students, and allied professionals, will be held on 23-25 August 2018 at Seda Vertis North in Quezon City, Philippines. It is an opportune occasion to share experiences and create networks and a perfect forum for discussions that consider rapid intellectual and socio-economic transformations and emerging technologies, improved interconnectedness within the global village, and the challenge to uphold equity. The conference is one of the major events lined up to celebrate the centennial of the College of Education, University of the Philippines-Diliman.
This year’s theme, Educational Equity Through Inclusion, underscores the role of education as an agent for genuine social cohesion and equity which require breaking barriers and narrowing gaps between and among learners, families, schools, and other communities. It advances the view that inclusive education is all-embracing, and that it “is a comprehensive process of change across the education system through which the diverse needs of all learners are addressed and responded to, regardless of their social, economic, cultural, linguistic, physical, or other contexts” (UNESCO, 2013). The theme problematizes how inclusive education may be fostered through teacher education and professional development.
ICTEd 2018 aims to gather diverse perspectives that can inform curriculum, instruction, assessment, capacity-building mechanisms, as well as policy formulation and implementation.

Message from the Conference Chair
Welcome to the 10th International Conference on Teacher Education! Our conference theme, Educational Equity through Inclusion, brings to this venue seriously passionate advocates from different parts of the world. This is where we, researchers and teachers, gather to share about how quality education can become accessible to all learners of whatever circumstance such as gender, age, ethnicity, learning need or economic status. Through this conference, we hope to elevate our understanding about obstacles to educational equity in our communities.
Together, we reframe how quality education can be described and measured. Needless to say, we must look beyond student achievement. Thus, the selected papers which will be presented here can broaden our views on quality education. The experiences that will be shared dissect education delivery mechanisms, curriculum content, learner support and development services, learning environments, teacher education and development, education research and leadership from the lens social justice.
We are optimistic that by sharing the products of innovative interventions and inquiries, we can empower each other in our common aspiration of serving all learners judiciously according to their needs. Learning together will make us better teacher educators and researchers now and in the years to come. We can demonstrate our enriched understanding of education equity, inclusion and quality education through relevant instruction, research and extension service to our communities. This, indeed, is a fitting objective for all of us in this especially memorable year as our beloved UP College of Education celebrates its 100th anniversary.
